Needed Equipment
Headgear
Headgear for Greco-Roman wrestling range in style, color, and aperance. But they are all designed to do one thing, protect the ear of the individual. Wrestling has many injuries but the most common is trauma to the ear. While in light doses this does no harm after long periods of time with reoccurring ear trauma cam form what is known as cauliflower ear. This is when blood clots or fluid become stuck in the ear, this sperates the cartilage from the overlying perichondrium that supplies its nutrients causing it to dye and form fibrous tissue in the overlying skin. While this is not fatal it will leave them with ear pain, a loss of hearing (not completely) and deforms the ears.
Wrestling Shoes
Wrestling shoes are key in a match, without the proper shoes a person would just slide recklessly on the mat. Wrestling shoes are designed to be light weight so they do not slow down the wrestler and they have the right grip for the mat so a wrestler can move swiftly without the worry of sliding uncontrollably and falling.
Singlet
The singlets purpose it so serve as something a wrestler can wear without limiting his movement but at the same time is not too baggy. Baggy clothing can get caught up in the limb of a wrestler or his opponent putting him/her in a dangerous position.
Optional equipment
While they are not required most encourage the wearing of cups. This is to cut down on the trauma to the groin of a male wrestler. Another piece of equipment that is not required regularly in the mouth-guard. The only time a mouth-guard is required is if the wrestler has braces. With or without braces the mouth-guard protect the wrestler's teeth.
